National Weather Service in Seattle this morning issued a Flood Watch for Whatcom County in anticipation of heavy rains forecast in the Cascades and locally.
The Flood Watch will be in effect from Thursday afternoon through Friday afternoon and is for much of northwest Washington, including Whatcom County.
Up to 6″ of rain is expected Thursday into Friday and this will push the Nooksack River close to flood stage.
The current forecast for the Nooksack River is for it to peak at about 17.5′ in Ferndale around 11pm Friday night, below the official flood stage of 19′.
