Whatcom County Fire District 7 units responded to a report of an outside fire at the end of Ariel Court tonight about 11pm.
A vacant lot at the end of the cul de sac adjacent to residential structures was on fire and the neighborhood for blocks around was thick with smoke.
When asked if fireworks had been seen before the fire, a neighbor told Discover Ferndale that “just one” had been discharged, insinuating it was the cause.
Fire crews were able to knock down the fire and begin mopping up just a few minutes after arriving.
