A little before 6pm tonight, Whatcom Fire Protection District 7 was dispatched for a structure fire at Motel 6 located at 5671 Riverside Drive.
Firefighters could be seen working on the roof over the office and back office space but no smoke could be seen by the time Discover Ferndale arrived. The office/back office building is a separate structure from the motel rooms.
According to a tweet by Bellingham Herald’s Caleb Hutton, the roof caught fire and a woman was taken to the hospital (click for his pics of the fire-damaged roof).
