FERNDALE, Wash. — The annual Ferndale High School (FHS) Future Farmers of America (FFA) plant sale has been moved to an online format this year due to COVID-19 concerns.

The FFA plant sale has been held in the greenhouse located on the FHS campus for many years but this year it has been moved online due to COVID-19 disease safety concerns and the current “Stay home, Stay safe” order by Governor Jay Inslee.

The sale began yesterday, April 28th and 180 orders were received in the first 24 hours according to FHS FFA Advisor Tony Torretta. “There has been an incredible outpouring of support from the community and we really appreciate it.” Many items were marked as sold out on the website as of 10:30am, April 29th.

Torretta said proceeds are used for FFA programs including fieldtrips, activities, attending the state convention and leadership camp.

Buyers can view what is available and place their orders at https://ferndaleffa.com/. Items purchased will be available to be picked up the afternoon of Friday, May 1st.

Torretta said Smith Gardens and Van Wingerden Greenhouses both made generous donations this year to better enable students to grow plants for the sale.
