Ferndale man arrested after banging on neighbor’s front door while armed

FERNDALE, Wash. — Ferndale Police were dispatched about 9:30pm Tuesday night, October 13th, to a report of a man with a gun banging on the front door of a house on Harbor Master Court.

According Ferndale Police, the victim reported the male had left but could be seen pointing a firearm while yelling at another person down the street. He then fled behind the victim’s house.

Police officers who responded spoke to friends of the suspect and he was identified as 57-year-old William Edward McCombs of Ferndale.

According to Whatcom County Assessor database records, McCombs owns a residence located behind the victim’s.

Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office deputies also responded to assist in searching for McCombs.

About 9:50pm, McCombs surrendered and was placed into custody according to Ferndale Police. A search using a K9 was performed and a firearm registered to McCombs was located.

According to jail records, McCombs was booked into the Whatcom County Jail charged with suspicion of felony harassment. He was released under his own recognizance yesterday evening after making an initial court appearance according to jail records.

McCombs has had no prior appearances in Whatcom County Superior Court according to court records.
