FERNDALE, Wash. — Financial and gift donations from businesses, churches, service organizations and individuals are now being requested to help stock this year’s Ferndale Holiday Giving Store. Over 500 school-age children of low-income families within the Ferndale School District boundaries had their holidays brightened in 2019.
The annual program relies on donations from Ferndale businesses, churches, service organizations and individuals. Volunteers use the donations to stock the store with a variety of popular gifts and toys and warm clothing like pajamas and sweatshirts for parents and guardians to specifically select for each child. As in the past, businesses and organizations are also able to host giving trees and gift collection boxes providing the community with more reminders and opportunities to donate in time.
Financial donations can be made by mailing checks made out to The Holiday Giving Store addressed to FCSC, PO Box 2205, Ferndale, WA 98248, or donating online via the Ferndale Community Service Cooperative website.
The Holiday Giving Store is also accepting applications from eligible low-income families within the Ferndale School District boundaries might need some extra holiday help. Families can apply online this year. Eligible families include those not being served by other local programs such as The Salvation Army, BP, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Toys for Tots and Community Toy Store.
Due to health safety and state mandates due to COVID-19, physical distancing and mask wearing will be required and each family will have a scheduled time when visiting the Holiday Giving Store.
The Ferndale Holiday Giving Store, a program of the Ferndale Community Service Cooperative, began in 2003. With the cooperation of the Ferndale School District, low-income families register to shop for free gifts to share with their children during the holidays.
