Expect One-Way Traffic Down Main Street

While some have proposed making Main Street from 1st Avenue to 4th Avenue one-way and putting traffic flowing the alternate direction on Alder Street, a one-day adventure in one-way traffic has more to do with a construction project.

As forewarned last week, the rolling crack seal project is scheduled to arrive in the downtown blocks tomorrow, October 20th. To accommodate the need for the crew to occupy one lane, traffic in that lane will be routed down to Alder Street. In the morning, starting at 8am, westbound traffic will be routed to Alder Street via 1st Avenue. In the afternoon, until 3pm, eastbound traffic will be routed to Alder Street via 4th Avenue. Alternate traffic will be able to remain on Main Street.

In addition, traffic heading north and south toward Main Street on 2nd Avenue and 3rd Avenue will be restricted to local traffic only as access onto Main Street will be blocked.

Crack seal work doesn’t tolerate rain so if the weather does not cooperate all or part of the work could be rescheduled to another day.

For the day, consider alternate routes that don’t include Main Street.
