Driver cited after car is impaled on guardrail

DEMING, Wash. — Washington State Patrol responded about 12:55pm today, April 26th, to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Valley Highway (SR9). The trooper arrived to find a passenger car impaled on a guardrail.

WSP Trooper Rocky Oliphant said the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu was heading northbound on Valley Highway at a high speed at the Potter Road intersection when it hit a patch of standing water, hydroplaned, lost control, over corrected and struck the guardrail on the west side of the road.

No one was injured and no other vehicles were involved in the crash

The Chevrolet sustained substantial front end damage. 12 feet of guardrail and 3 posts were damaged as a result of the crash according to Oliphant.

The driver received a citation for driving too fast for the conditions.
