Disch retires after 43 years with PUD #1

FERNDALE, Wash. — Public Utility District (PUD) No. 1 of Whatcom County recently honored Fred Disch upon his retirement from the District after 43 years as a water operator and water systems supervisor. 

PUD Commissioners presented Resolution No. 762 honoring Disch upon his retirement during a regular October Commission Meeting. 

Resolution No. 762 expressed the Commissioners’ appreciation for his employment with the District since June 1976. Disch served the District “most capably with the interests of the PUD always foremost, and gave generously of his time and talents in performing the various duties of his job a Water Operator and Water System Supervisor.”

Commission President Jeff McClure presented Disch with a framed copy of the signed resolution and collage of photographs from his decades with the PUD. Disch shared stories of working during freezing northeaster conditions and other extreme conditions he and the water crew endured and other exciting times over the years.
