Deputy-involved crash closes section of Hannegan during morning commute (Tues.)

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to the intersection of E Axton Road and Hannegan Road about 6:40am on Tuesday, March 19th, due to reports of a 2-vehicle crash involving a Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) deputy.

As of 8am, all roads approaching the intersection have been closed to traffic in all directions according to WCSO.

  • southbound Hannegan at E Laurel Road
  • northbound Hannegan at E Smith Road
  • eastbound Axton at Guide Meridian (SR539)
  • westbound Axton at Hannegan Road

According to the PulsePoint EMS dispatch log reporting system, 2 patients were transported from the scene to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center by ambulance.

Roads were reported to be reopening about 9:40am.
