MONROE, Wash. — The Washington State Patrol reports 2 people were killed Thursday, November 18th, after the vehicle they were in crashed head-on with a dump truck on State Route 2 (SR2) east of Monroe.
A press memo from the WSP said the 2 were westbound on SR2 in a 2011 Mercedes-Benz ML when it left the roadway to the right and then overcorrected, crossing the center line and crashing head-on with an eastbound 2022 Peterbilt dump truck towing a trailer.
WSP were dispatched to the crash site about 12:50pm.
The driver of the Mercedes-Benz was identified as a 23-year-old Deming woman and the passenger as a 28-year-old Everett woman. Both were declared dead at the scene.
The 58-year-old Peterbilt driver was transported to an area medical center.
Both vehicles were considered total losses.
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash and the investigation into the cause continues.
