Crash results in broken pole – blamed for power outage in Sandy Point Heights area

FERNDALE, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to a single-vehicle car versus pole crash at the intersection of Lake Terrell and Slater Roads about 4:40pm.

According to Whatcom County Fire District 17 Fire Chief Jim Petrie, they transported 1 patient from the scene to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Witnesses at the scene described the pole as broken by the impact.

About 2 hours later, apparently as the vehicle was being removed, a power outage was reported in the area according to Puget Sound Energy.

The outage impacted 354 PSE customers and as of 7:10pm no estimate for restoring power had been given.
