FERNDALE, Wash. — First responders were dispatched about 5:30pm today, Tuesday, January 30th, to the northbound lanes of I-5 south of the Portal Way interchange on the Nooksack River bridge due to a report of a blocking crash.
An initial report from the scene was of a 7-vehicle crash with 2 patients expected to be transported from the scene by ambulance.
As of 6pm, a traffic jam extended over 3 miles south reaching to the Slater Road interchange.
Washington State Patrol Trooper Kelsey Harding told Whatcom News the cause of the crash was not immediately available.
