The now infamous “clock tower” building at 2147 Main Street was granted permission to continue building back in early September under an existing city-issued building permit but only for so long as certain benchmarks were achieved along the way. It is difficult to tell from the two parties’ responses whether the most recent deadline was achieved.
The settlement agreement entered into by the City of Ferndale and Artur and Margaret Rojsza, builder and occupant of the residence, stipulated that once the permit was reinstated,
- all exterior construction, roofing and siding must be completed by October 31, 2015
- a landscaping plan must be submitted by October 31, 2015
- landscaping work must be completed by January 30, 2016
The following is an email Artur Rojsza said he sent to city staff and city legal counsel on October 31st,
We have fulfill condition of agreement between City of Ferndale and ourselves (Artur and Margaret Rojsza) to complete all exterior construction on our house.
We have submitted landscaping drawings October 29 , 2015 .
We are keep moving with our progress on landscaping part.
When asked about the status of the deadline, the response by city staff via email to Discover Ferndale wasn’t quite as positive,
There is pending legal action on this matter and the City cannot comment on it at this time.
