Construction on the nearly 50,000 square-foot facility at 1830 Scout Place was well underway when the intended occupant, La Belle Inc. of Bellingham, was acquired by PanTheryx of Colorado in February.
In a story in the Bellingham Herald, PanTheryx President and CEO Mark Braman said they would be moving the Bellingham operation to California. This raised the question of what was to become of the Ferndale building still under construction.
According to PanTheryx spokesperson Tom Langford, the Ferndale building was not part of the acquisition and is owned by the Wiebe family. The Wiebe family founded and operated La Belle Inc. prior to the acquisition.
Family spokesperson Darcy Wiebe said they expect to complete construction on the building this spring and are discussing a potential lease or sale of the facility with several interested parties.
