The house sat nearly alone on Washington Street as apartment complexes were built around it. Today, it traveled 4 miles to a new address.
For several weeks the house could be seen up on blocks at its Washington Street address lacking the second story dormers and roof. According to Whatcom County Assessor records, the 1 and a half story house was built in 1902.

Early this morning before 6am, Ferndale Mayor Jon Mutchler was at City Hall when the house rolled by. He quickly snapped a picture of the odd sight as it passed the Ferndale Post Office.

The route followed Washington Street to Vista Drive, turning left onto Vista Drive on to 4th Avenue, continuing down 4th Avenue and turning right onto Main Street. The slow moving load continued straight westward down Main Street, onto Mountain View Road until reaching its destination at the intersection of Mountain View Road and N Star Road.
The house’s new owner, Eliseo Rojo, said the house will be his family’s new home.

The dormer and roof sections followed the house and will be reinstalled once the main floor is situated and secured.
This picture is from the Whatcom County Assessor records and shows the house some time ago (date unknown).
