Cascades Drum & Bugle Corps moved into Ferndale High School for 2 weeks

If you live within a few blocks of the campus of Ferndale High School you have been hearing marching band practices for several days. This is coming from of the last of three rehearsal camps this summer by the Seattle Cascades Drum and Bugle Corps.

According to the Corps’ website, participants (referred to as ‘members’) have already participated in two other rehearsal camps, one in Eatonville, Washington and one in Randle, Washington. All three camps are referred to as “move ins” since the members stay overnight in on-site accommodations. This means members are truly only eating, sleeping and practicing during these rehearsal camps.

Members come from all over the Pacific Northwest and in some cases from further away including other countries according to the website.

Members are fed via the Corps’ 51-foot mobile kitchen and dedicated food crew who prepare and serve the meals for all the members.

After the Ferndale rehearsal camp ends July 1st, the Corps will begin a cross-country competition tour that lasts through August. According to their website, they will travel to competitions in 18 different states winding up at the Drum Corps International (DCI) World Championship Finals in Indianapolis, Indiana in mid-August.

Organizers have scheduled a free “preview show” that is open to the public on June 29th at 7pm in the FHS stadium.
