Blaine man arrested for attempted homicide

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — About 3:40am on Tuesday, August 20th, Bellingham Police were dispatched to the entrance of the emergency department at PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center due to a report of a combative man and blood covered woman. Initial radioed reports at the time said the man was fighting with security in an attempt to leave in a vehicle while the woman had gone inside.

The man, identified as Clayton Edward Du Bois, was arrested and booked into the Whatcom County Jail charged with 2nd-degree attempted murder and driving under the influence.

Law enforcement went to Du Bois’ residence in Blaine to ensure there were no other victims. Passersby reported the yard was set off by crime scene tape and several law enforcement vehicles were parked outside for several hours in the morning and afternoon.
