Bellingham fire spreads to adjacent apartments, spreads smoke across I-5

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — First responders were dispatched about 11:10am on Friday, June 13, 2025, to the 1400 block of James Street due to reports of a residential structure fire.

Initial unconfirmed reports from the scene were that a residential structure was fully involved and an adjacent building was also involved. Southbound James Street traffic was being detoured at Gladstone Street.

According to the PulsePoint EMS dispatch log reporting system, at least 2 patients were transported from the scene to PeaceHealth St Joseph’s Medical Center via medic units.
