Bellingham 2-alarm commercial fire under investigation

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Firefighters were dispatched to a report of a commercial structure fire about 9am, Saturday, July 15th, in a business in a retail strip mall in the 3000 block of Northwest Avenue.

Initial radioed reports from the scene were that flames and smoke were visible from the roof of the business. A second alarm was issued to increase the firefighting response.

As of 10:30am, employees from businesses in the strip mall were gathered in the parking lot while firefighters continued mopping up the fire.

Traffic on Northwest Avenue was not impacted but access to the parking lot was temporarily blocked.

Bellingham Fire Department investigators were visible on scene.
