BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The Community Boating Center (CBC) of Bellingham announced Thursday, August 27, 2026, that they have canceled their Beats on the Bay scheduled for Tuesday, September 1, 2026, and are planning an inland fundraiser.

As the event has grown, we’ve also seen folks putting themselves in risky situations—missing life jackets, swimming through boat traffic, impaired decision-making, and captaining watercraft unsuited for the Bay’s cold water in spicier conditions.

CBC plans to work with the City of Bellingham, maritime partners, and first responders to evaluate support and safeguards for returning next year.

A replacement event, Beats Near the Bay with Henry Mansfield, is scheduled for Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at Kulshan Trackside, according to CBC. Kulshan will donate 10% of sales during the event to the organization.

CBC reported providing over $160,000 in programming this year.
