BELLINGHAM, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to the northbound lanes of I-5 north of the Iowa Street on-ramp about 3:45pm on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, due to reports of a semi-truck crash that was blocking all lanes.

A southbound Washington State Patrol trooper radioed that it appeared the truck had struck the concrete barriers separating the northbound and southbound lanes.
Based on Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) cameras in the area, northbound traffic initially appeared to be getting past on the right shoulder.

About 4:10pm, a WSP trooper at the scene reported the right lane had been reopened.

WSDOT reported about 4:15pm that the southbound left lane was closed through the area.
There were reports of additional crashes in both the southbound and northbound traffic jams.
About 5:30pm, a WSP trooper at the scene reported via radio that all northbound lanes were reopened in the area of the semi-truck crash. The northbound traffic jam extended about 3 miles south at the time, extending beyond the Old Fairhaven Parkway (SR11) interchange.
