Northwest Clean Air Agency air quality monitoring station in Custer historical readings.

Air quality measurements reported from the Loomis Trail-Custer monitoring station began moving from the “Good” range into the “Moderate” yesterday.

About the same time wind speeds dipped below 5mph late yesterday, the Northwest Clean Air Agency air quality monitoring station in Custer began reporting air quality had worsen just enough to be categorized as MODERATE.

When air quality is in the MODERATE range, people with asthma, respiratory infection, diabetes, lung or heart disease or have had a stroke are advised to limit outdoor activities or do activities that take less effort, such as walking instead of running.

While the station is reporting the air quality recovered overnight enough to again be categorized as GOOD, it is still a distance from where it typically has been over the past few days (see gauge graphic).

Winds are expected to remain calm to breezy this week. Late Tuesday through Wednesday is expected to be a an extended period of little to no winds providing the potential for another bump in the air quality during that time.
