2nd ave sports exteriorDowntown Ferndale’s local sporting apparel and equipment store announced two significant changes to its offerings.

Recently Emily Heiser took over the store reigns from Sue Remaklus. It has only been a short while since but now a couple major adjustments are being made.

First, a “give back” program is being implemented enabling large purchase buyers to direct a rebate to their organization or to a fund at the store that benefits others unable to otherwise participate in sports due to cost barriers.

Designated “The Youth Bridge,” according to Heiser, the fund “bridges the financial gap between local families in need and their children’s sporting activities and gear requirements.” 2nd Avenue Sports is partnering with Ferndale schools and clubs to identify and help those in need through the fund.

Second, while the store has been known for its affordable inventory there has been demand for specific name brands. Heiser has also recently announced she will begin carrying product from Nike, Reebok, Adidas, Under Armour and Puma.

2nd Avenue Sports has been serving the Ferndale youth and adult sports community since 2005.
