Strider Construction work crews are currently replacing a culvert under Lummi Shore Drive and it has been closed as a result. As soon as that work is complete, plans are to replace a culvert further downstream under Haxton Way. As a result, Haxton Way will be closed for two weeks.

“Phase 1” of the project is currently underway on Lummi Shore Drive. Once completed, Strider Construction says they will begin “phase 2,” the installation of another new “fish friendly” passage where Smuggler’s Slough passes under Haxton Way. This will replace an existing concrete culvert.

During the 2-week long project, Haxton Way will be closed to all vehicle traffic from Lummi Shore Drive to the roundabout at Kwina Road (see map below). The project will begin Thursday, May 11th and is expected to continue for two weeks.

Haxton Way is expected to re-open to through traffic Thursday, May 25, 2017.
