FERNDALE, Wash. — Whatcom County Old Settlers’ Association President Lynda Lucas told Whatcom News today, April 19th, that plans were underway to hold their annual Old Settlers’ Picnic in Ferndale’s Pioneer Park this year. The event was canceled last year due to health concerns during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year’s Old Settlers’ Picnic is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, July 30th and 31st 23rd and 24th.

Lucas added the Old Settlers’ Grand Parade that typically preceded the picnic on Saturday will not be held this year due to continued public health concerns with the size of the crowds that have gathered on the sidewalks in past years. The Kids’ Parade has also been canceled this year.

The picnic will include food, music and fun things to do for all ages while adhering to Washington State COVID-19 event guidelines, Lucas said. More specifics will be announced at later dates.
