GLACIER, Wash. — First responders were dispatched about 2:55pm to an area of the north fork of the Nooksack River Tuesday, June 14th, due to a report of people in the water after a raft overturned.

Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) Spokesperson Deb Slater told Whatcom News via email that deputies determined there were 5 people on board including a guide when the raft capsized.
The guide was able to get 2 people out of the water while 2 others were swept downstream.
Summit-to-Sound swiftwater search and rescue and Border Patrol Search, Trauma and Rescue (BORSTAR) began a search and rescue effort for the missing people. A body was later located.
Search and rescue personnel will be back out today, Wednesday, June 15th, to resume the search.
