GLACIER, Wash. — Today, Friday, June 25, 2025, Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) officials announced the final 3-mile section of the Mount Baker Highway (SR542) is scheduled to be reopened to vehicles on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 8am.

WSDOT advises travelers should still expect to encounter WSDOT maintenance and forest service crews along Mount Baker Highway. Services at Artist Point will remain limited.

Each winter, WSDOT closes the narrow section of road with sharp curves and steep slopes to vehicle traffic to keep travelers safe, while at the same time a portion of the road becomes part of the Mt. Baker Ski Area’s terrain.
