WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — As of this afternoon, Monday, March 9, 2026, forecasters with the National Weather Service (NWS) Seattle office were juggling a watch, multiple warnings and an advisory for the Cascade Mountains in eastern Whatcom County.
These were only a few of the many due to a widespread winter storm expected in the higher elevations of western Washington.
Initially, this system is expected to begin by bringing unseasonably cold temperatures overnight into tomorrow morning.
Tonight into Tuesday morning will likely be the coldest of the week, with snow levels dropping practically to the surface overnight. Anywhere that experiences shower activity during the peak of this cold air is susceptible for some snow, but likely not accumulating for non-mountainous regions.
