WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — Forecasters with the Seattle office of the National Weather Service say winds are expected to increase today, Friday, December 13th, during the afternoon and continue through Saturday evening.
The strongest winds will be along the coast, the San Juan Islands, Whidbey Island, and western Skagit and Whatcom Counties. Maximum wind gusts between 30 to 40mph are possible at the locations.

A wind advisory was issued just as this story was being written. It will be in effect from 1am to 4pm Saturday. Sustained southerly winds of 20 to 30mph with gusts to 50mph are expected. “Strongest winds are expected along the central coast, the Admiralty Inlet area, and the San Juans.”
Forecasters with Environment Canada are forecasting southeast 40mph sustained winds gusting to 60mph along the US-Canada border.
