Whatcom County man extradited from Missouri to face child rape charges from 2011

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — Aleksandr Meshkov, 34, of Sedalia, Missouri, was recently booked into the Whatcom County Jail and now faces 2 counts of 1st-degree rape of a child in Whatcom County Superior Court. The arrest was made about 14 years after a warrant was issued for his arrest on August 25, 2011.

Missouri news reports said a probable cause statement was filed by the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office stating that local law enforcement officials were made aware on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, that a resident had an extraditable warrant out of Whatcom County. He was located at his place of employment, detained and booked into the Pettis County Detention Center pending extradition. He was later transported and booked into the Whatcom County Jail on June 18, 2025.

The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office investigation in 2011 developed probable cause to arrest then 20-year-old Meshkov as a suspect for 2 counts of 1st-degree child rape. Detectives attempted to locate him and learned he had moved out of the state.

An amended extraditable nationwide arrest warrant was issued for Meshkov on June 4, 2025, after he was discovered to be living in Sedalia, Missouri.

Meshkov was released from jail custody on June 18, 2025, after posting $100,000 bond or $10,000 cash bail.
