For the past 40 years, Van’s Cabinet Shop in Lynden has created custom handcrafted cabinets with owner Bob Van Hofwegen at the helm. Sons, Eric and Jason, joined the business in the 1990s and have since learned the craft and the many aspects of running the business.

While Bob, now in his 80s, continues crafting cabinets, his sons have partnered with Brad Kuik and Brian Hendricks to grow the business under a new name, HighCraft Cabinets, and at a new location, this time in Ferndale.
This new endeavor, according to the company website, is gearing up to craft quality custom cabinets and provide “first-class client experiences” for contractors and homeowners, not only in Whatcom County but across the Pacific Northwest.
Kuik and Hendricks had previously worked together at Premier Graphics in Bellingham and Kuik had also run a large cabinet making company in Perth, Australia. They both knew Eric and Jason from local trades groups and other community events.

Kuik said he and Eric were talking about being in their 40s and decided this was the time to take the business to the next level.
The new facility, located at 5245 Industrial Place, opened June 1st and can produce a much larger quantity of product for multifamily and other contractor-led projects, according to Kuik.
