BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Bellingham Police Department (BPD) officials reported the apprehension and arrest of a “team of thieves” after the victim reported their garage door had been activated while they were away.
According to BPD, patrol officers responded on Thursday, January 12th, to Marionberry Lane in Bellingham. They discovered the garage had been burglarized and items were missing. Patrol officers set up a perimeter and called in a K-9 unit to track the fleeing suspects.

Destro started his track and found stolen property 2 houses away. The K-9 continued on the scent of the fleeing suspects and found a woman trying to enter another yard.
The woman was apprehended and said a man with her ran because he had warrants.
A BPD Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) pilot was also called in to assist. The drone enabled seeing the second suspect running along a fence line as soon as it was launched.
Patrol officers surrounded the immediate area and let the second suspect know he was under arrest. He was taken into custody without incident.
Both suspects, identified as Aaron Lee Nerkins, age 31, and Siara Carrazco, age 28, were booked into the Whatcom County Jail. Nerkins had 3 outstanding arrest warrants with a total of $55,000 in bail according to jail records.
Both were charged with suspicion of the following crimes.
- residential burglary
- 2nd-degree theft
Nerkins was also arrested under the warrants.
Both suspects have prior felony convictions.
The victim was able to get all their property back according to BPD.
