FERNDALE, Wash. — On Sunday, December 15, 2019 at 4:10am, the natural gas liquids tanker Levant collided with Petrogas Pacific’s pier located in the Cherry Point area. A Petrogas official reported there were no injuries and there was no loss of product from the vessel.

Petrogas’ staff were not involved with the incident, but were onsite to address the situation according to the company official.

Alcoa Intalco Works also uses the pier and an Intalco official reported their employees were not involved in the incident and the aluminum smelter was operating under normal conditions.

“There have been only minimal interruptions to our operations”, said Gavin Carscallen, vice-president legal for Petrogas Pacific. He said the company was currently coordinating with the Coast Guard in its investigation of the collision. “The Levant has been repaired and has now returned to our wharf prior to embarking on its scheduled journey to Asia.”
