Area roads are beginning to be reported to be affected by the deluge we are experiencing as the ground is already saturated. The Bellingham airport is reporting just over a half-inch of rain has fallen since midnight and a private weather station located in Ferndale is reporting over three-quarters of an inch. The heavy rains are expected through Saturday so expect the following list to be updated from time to time. Ferndale roads reported by Whatcom County Public Works to be effected by the weather:
- Ferndale Rd – Water / Debris Over Roadway
- Lampman – west of Haxton Way – Water / Debris Over Roadway
- North Star – at Mountain View Rd – Water / Debris Over Roadway
- S.Church – at Lampman – Water / Debris Over Roadway
The river forecast (for the Nooksack at Ferndale) is that it will crest at 17.5′ around 10pm Saturday night.

According to Whatcom News Alerts, “Barrett and Paradise….water over the road….sign man has been notified….passerby is advising it needs to be shut down.”

Only a tenth of an inch of rain is expected today according to the National Weather Service forecast. And the next rain event is not expected until Tuesday. That is good news for drivers impacted by water and debris over the roads they travel.
