Reports of tall slender poles with a box at the bottom and a small lamp-like device at the top suddenly appearing around Ferndale have been received.
According to the City, these have been installed by IDAX Data Solutions of Kirkland to collect traffic flow data. The measurement devices have been installed by Slater Road, Main Street, Vista Drive, Second Avenue (Griffintown neighborhood) and Smith Road.
More traffic count gathering is planned for later in the spring.
Data collected will be used by the City to compare with current expectations and planning for handling traffic in the future.
