Slick road conditions remain while more frozen precipitation is expected (Thurs.)

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — Weather forecasters say to expect more clouds will move in later this morning, Thursday, January 18th, bringing the potential for a few inches of more new snow after areas across Whatcom County received over half a foot yesterday. Precipitation could come as snow, snow and rain or rain depending on the location.

State, county and municipal plows were at work overnight but even where the snow has been cleared a layer of ice may remain. First responders and tow companies continued to be busy this morning due to single-vehicles sliding off roadways across the county as a result.

Challenging road conditions remain in areas of Whatcom County. Lots of continuous snowfall + drifts + below-freezing temps means we’re still focused on Priority 1 roads. Help everyone out by staying off the roads as much as possible. If you go out, please be extra cautious and give plows plenty of room. Whatcom County Public Works (January 17, 2024)
