FERNDALE, Wash. — First responders were dispatched about 10:40am on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, to the area of a medical center on Portal Way in Ferndale due to report of a person outside pointing a gun at people.
Per emergency services radio transmissions at the time, law enforcement were advised the subject was lying on the ground with the gun next to them. The medical center was advised to go on “lock down.”
Law enforcement arrived and located a subject with a gunshot wound and determine there were no other suspects.
The subject with a self-inflicted gunshot wound was transported from the scene to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center by ambulance.
Ferndale Police issued a statement saying, “Early indications led officers to believe this was an accidental discharge.”
