FERNDALE, Wash. — The Ferndale area woke to a less concerning forecast for the Nooksack River level at Ferndale this morning, Sunday, May 31st, than was provided late yesterday.

The 5am forecast expected the river level to rise and crest at 11.5 feet by 9am today. Heavy rains and warm temperatures in the mountains are thought to result in the increase in the river level.

That was lower than last night’s forecast that expected the river to crest about 6pm this evening after rising to over 17 feet.

No road impacts are expected under the updated forecast since they typically to not begin to occur until after the river reaches the 15-foot mark.

Drivers and property owners can monitor the river level forecast on the My Ferndale News River Level Forecast page.
