Construction on the new Whatcom County Jail in Ferndale is anticipated to begin in February 2017 but that assumes voters approve funding later this year. The project creates 215,000 square feet of space across three new buildings on the northwest corner of LaBounty Drive and Sunset Avenue.

Toward that end there will be a public hearing at 7pm on Monday, March 23 at the City Hall Annex, 5694 Second Avenue. This is an opportunity for the public to comment on the list of conditions Ferndale City staff seek to impose on the project regarding the site plan, landscape plan, lighting, traffic and other issues.

Documents to be referred to during the hearing are available from the City Website.
