
BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Neighborhoods around Edgemoor lost power this afternoon, June 7th, according to Puget Sound Energy (PSE).
The outage, which was reported to have begun at 2:26pm, impacted 861 PSE customer addresses according to PSE. As of 2:35pm the cause of the outage was under investigation and a standard estimate of about 2 hours to restore power was being provided.
As of 3pm, PSE crews were onsite and cited vandalism as the cause for the outage.
PSE reported power was restored as of 3:20pm for all but 6 PSE customer addresses.
PSE officials said in an email to Whatcom News someone pried open a utility box and damaged the equipment. Bellingham Police were already aware of the incident and met PSE crews at the site of the vandalism. PSE officials said they are continuing to investigate to determine the extent of the damage done.
