NWS issues Whatcom County wind advisory for Thursday

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — The National Weather Service in Seattle today, Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at 6pm, issued a wind advisory for the Puget Sound region lowlands tomorrow due to gusts expected to reach to 45mph.

  • WHAT…South winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected.
  • WHERE…Island County, Lowlands of Western Skagit and Northwestern Snohomish Counties, Lowlands of Western Whatcom County, and San Juan County.
  • WHEN…From 6 AM to 11 PM PST Thursday.
  • IMPACTS…Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Due to saturated soils, increased impacts from higher winds are possible.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating high-profile vehicles. Secure outdoor objects.
