NOOKSACK, Wash. — First responders were dispatched about 9:45pm on Friday, April 5th, to the 400 block of Dennison Lane in Nooksack due to a report of a residential fire.

According to Whatcom County Fire District 1 Fire Chief Rachel Carlson, an occupant called in the fire and firefighters arrived to find flames and smoke coming from the roof at the back of the residence. Both of the occupants were reportedly able to get out without injury.

Crews redirected their efforts on gaining entry due to a ceiling collapse that had occurred, according to Carlson. There were no injuries to the occupants or firefighters.

2 adults were displaced by the fire and the Red Cross was contacted to assist them.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Whatcom County Fire Marshal’s Office.
