WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — Travelers returning to Canada after celebrating the Canadian Thanksgiving 3-day weekend in the US may encounter slowdowns on northbound I-5 through Ferndale after 8pm tonight due to a scheduled lane closure.
The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) say the left lane of northbound I-5 is scheduled to be closed between Portal Way (milepost 263) and Grandview Road (milepost 265) between 8pm and 6am from Monday, night October 13, 2025, to Friday morning, October. 17, 2025. Contractor crews working for the WSDOT will be repaving the roadway and installing cable barriers as part of the southbound I-5 Nooksack River to Blaine paving project.
