DIABLO, Wash. — The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has reopened the North Cascades Highway (SR20) as of 12pm today, Thursday, August 22nd.

According to WSDOT, 7,000 tons of mud and debris has been cleared from the roadway since heavy rains caused mudslides within the closure area.

In addition, fire crews continue to be working in the area battling the Easy Wildfire. As such, a 35mph speed limit is in place between mileposts 150 and 154. Motorists are being required to not pass or pull over in this section and to stay alert for fire and maintenance crews entering and exiting the road.

We’ll have pilot car operations while Fire crews continue working in the area of the Easy Fire.
