Shortly after 9am this morning, aid and law enforcement were dispatched to a 3-vehicle crash on Grandview Road between I-5 and Portal Way.

They encountered the result of a chain-reaction crash involving a full-size pickup, an SUV and a passenger car in the westbound lane. Officials at the scene said it appeared 1 of the vehicles rear-ended another, pushing it into the rear of the 3rd vehicle.

According to Whatcom County Fire District 7 Division Chief Ben Boyko, 1 of the drivers was taken by ambulance to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. 3 other persons were treated and released at the scene.

Traffic was delayed through the area for a short while as 1 lane was blocked while aid and law enforcement worked at the scene.

Washington State Department of Transportation crews were called in to sand the road due to an oil sheen resulting from the crash damage to one of the vehicles.

Washington State Patrol Ferndale Police were still investigating the crash at the time this story was published.
