Motorcyclist arrested after posting reckless escapades pleads guilty, sentenced

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — A 19-year-old charged with gross misdemeanor hit and run of an attended vehicle with property damage and 2 counts of reckless driving recently pled guilty in Whatcom County Superior Court to a single gross misdemeanor count of reckless driving. He received a sentence of 364 days in custody with 364 days suspended and is required to complete 120 hours of community service.

The Washington State Patrol issued the following statement at the time of his arrest in April.

This weekend, after a lengthy investigation, Troopers made an arrest and seized a motorcycle used to previously elude them in March. The owner of the motorcycle posted this incident on a social media account bragging about getting away. While reviewing the social media account there was evidence of additional crimes such as reckless driving and hit & run relating to a road rage incident in January.

He was released from custody the day after his arrest after posting $1,500 cash bail.

According to court documents, the 19-year-old was operating the motorcycle without a motorcycle endorsement. He told the arresting trooper he did not believe it was dangerous to ride a motorcycle at speeds of 150mph or more in traffic and his parents were unaware he owned the motorcycle.
