Motorcycle vs SUV crash sends 2 to the hospital

SUMAS, Wash. — First responders were dispatched about 2pm on Saturday, July 9th, to the intersection of Anderson Lake Road and Reese Hill Road area due to a report of an injury crash involving a motorcycle.

Washington State Patrol issued a press memo that said a 2015 Yamaha motorcycle was northbound on Reese Hill Road and a 2021 Toyota 4Runner pulled out of a driveway to head southbound. The Yamaha struck the Toyota and went down an embankment.

The 37-year-old motorcycle driver from Sarasota, Florida, and 42-year-old motorcycle passenger from Maple Falls, were both transported to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center. Both were determined to have been wearing USDOT-compliant helmets.

The 55-year-old Toyota driver was not injured.

It was unknown whether drugs or alcohol were involved and the cause remained under investigation.
