WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — Officials with the Seattle office of the National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory early this morning, Friday, April 9th, for the North Cascades mountain range.
The advisory warns to expect snow above 2,000 feet with total snow accumulations of between 6 and 12 inches.
The advisory will be in effect between 5pm tonight through 5pm tomorrow and includes all passes between Mount Baker and Mount Rainer including Stevens and Snoqualmie Passes. Drivers should plan to encounter slick roads at these higher elevations and the possibility chains or 4-wheel drive will be required.
Mount Baker Ski Area reported 16-inches of new snow during the previous advisory period between April 7th and 8th.
