BELLINGHAM, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to the intersection of Meridian Street and W Connecticut Avenue shortly after midnight on Thursday, September 9th, due to a report of a single-vehicle motorcycle crash.
Bellingham Police Department (BPD) Lieutenant Claudia Murphy told Whatcom News that when BPD officers arrived, they found 2 people on the ground, both of whom were wearing motorcycle helmets. A “crashed motorcycle” was seen in the middle of the roadway.
Murphy said the driver of the motorcycle, a 32-year-old male, received immediate life-saving medical attention by Bellingham Fire Department medics due to his injuries. The 34-year-old female passenger suffered minor injuries. Both were transported to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center. The male succumbed to his injuries and died a short time later.
BPD Traffic Division responded to forensically map the scene. No other details were released.
